How to choose a shower tray: resin, sizes and cut-to-measure

The shower tray is one of the decisions that most shapes the outcome of a bathroom renovation: it defines the look, the safety and the ease of cleaning for years. Here are the keys to getting it right.

Material: resin and mineral charge

Resin trays with mineral charge have prevailed over the old ceramic or acrylic ones for a simple reason: they combine strength, lightness and a warm touch, and allow very current textured finishes (stone or slate effect). They're robust, anti-slip and integrate flush with the floor for an open, accessible bathroom. You can see them in our shower trays & bathtubs category, such as the Basic and Rock models.

Sizes and format

The size depends on the available space and the type of shower you want. As a reference:

  • Common widths: 70, 80 and 90 cm.
  • Lengths: from 100 to 200 cm (the longest allow "walk-in" showers).
  • Square (80×80, 90×90) for compact bathrooms; rectangular to replace bathtubs.

Cut to measure

A great advantage of resin is that it can be cut to size: if your space doesn't fit a standard size, the tray adjusts to the centimetre. On each model's product page you'll find the available sizes and, where applicable, surcharges for cutting or for a custom RAL colour finish.

Anti-slip: safety first

In the shower area, water makes good grip essential. Look for a Class 3 (R11 or higher) finish, the most demanding, which provides safety without giving up design. We explain it in detail in the anti-slip by room guide.

Colour and texture

White is still a timeless classic, but grey, anthracite, cement or sand tones and slate-like textures pair very well with today's bathrooms and with the stone- or cement-effect porcelain of the floor. The RAL colour option also lets you coordinate the tray with the rest of the bathroom.

Flush installation

Installing the tray flush with the floor removes barriers, makes cleaning easier and brings that sought-after sense of continuity. Pair it with a concealed shower mixer for a clean, minimalist result.

In short

Choose resin with mineral charge, fit the size (or cut it) to your space, make sure of a good anti-slip rating and coordinate colour and texture with the rest of the bathroom. Want help choosing? Tell us about your project and we'll prepare a tailored quote.
